In 2007, we expanded our "Pets for Seniors" to include animals adopted from the Montville Animal Shelter located at 86 River Road, Montville, NJ. PASS, in partnership with a qualified and participating shelters or rescue groups, wants to help match the right pet to a potential owner. Chances are good that by adopting a cat or dog from the shelter, you will have found a wonderful, loving animal who will be eternally loyal to his or her new "forever" family. It's a proven fact that together, Pets and Seniors live longer happier lives.
You may qualify for certain benefits including financial assistance, if you are a Senior (aged 62 or older), and adopt a senior pet (dogs aged 4 or older, or cats aged 5 or older) from a qualified shelter or rescue group.
Benefits may include some, but not necessarily all, of the following:
- Refund of your adoption fee. (proof of adoption is required)
- Free spay/neuter and initial vaccinations at one of our Spay Day Events or from a PASS participating veterinarian.
- Payment of your pet deposit, if required by your senior housing development. You agree that if a "pet deposit" is advanced on your behalf, the funds will be returned to the "Pets for Seniors" program in the event you no longer have a pet or no longer reside at the facility. We hope that this will ensure the continuation of available funds for new partners in the program.
- Adoption Kit, which may contain a new pet bed, litter box & litter, collar & leash, water & feeding bowls, together with a few toys, to get you and your new companion started off on the right paw.
