"Paws" For Thought . . .
Here's some of our greatest achievements in 2007
This has been an exciting year for our organization and we wish to share our greatest accomplishments in 2007. Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated volunteers and much support from the community, PASS has been able to:
- Arrange and finance 291 spay/neuter surgeries for feral cats, owned pets and homeless animals awaiting placement in area shelters (at a cost to PASS of more than $23,000 ! ). That's 137 males and 154 females that won't be adding to the pet overpopulation problem in our community this year. This brings our total spay/neuter surgeries to well over 900 since PASS was formed in 2003.
- Grew our membership to 126 members in good standing--a big jump from the handful of people who started our organization less than 5 years ago.
- Educate our residents on humane education issues thru seminars in conjunction with the NJ Bear Education Group, New Jersey Animal Rights Alliance, Green Chimneys and others.
- Assist our local shelters and rescue groups with food, bedding, medications, cleaning supplies and other items needed for their efforts. We also provided hundreds of volunteer manpower hours to assist with varied duties as needed.
- Provide financing and incentives to seniors and low income residents so they could enjoy the benefits of responsible pet ownership.
- Create awareness of animal welfare issues in our community including the success of trap/neuter/release and other feral cat population reduction issues.
- Fundraise, Fundraise, Fundraise to pay for it all!
